Backpacks for Elementary StudentsThe Jacksonville Civitan Club is preparing a kick-off to a community service project called Boomerang Backpacks for Elementary Students. The pilot program will run from January thru May 2010. These backpacks will be given to students two Fridays a month that will be filled with nutritious snacks to eat over the weekend. The priority is to make this available every week for students. The goals of the program are to help with nutritional needs for students over the weekend and provide students with snacks to deal with hunger.
