Application Dates for OCS 2017-18 Preschool Programs

Beginning March 6, OCS will begin accepting applications for preschool programs for the 2017-2018 school year. To be eligible a child should be three or four years old on or before August 31, 2017. Those who have children with special needs are encouraged to apply. Applications are accepted at Onslow County Schools Preschool Department at Thompson Early Childhood Center located at 440 College St., Jacksonville.


Application Dates:

March 6, March 13, and March 29, from 8:30 a.m. – 4 p.m.

March 10, and March 30 from 8:30 a.m. – 6:30 p.m.

March 20, from 8:30 a.m. – 4 p.m.


The following information is necessary to apply:

·        Your child’s birth certificate

·        Your child’s immunization record

·        Picture identification of parent/guardian

·        Proof of residency – water or electric bill

·        Legal guardian/custody papers, if applicable

·        Foster/kinship care – letter from DSS, legal documentation

·        Disability/IEP documents, if applicable

·        Last 12 months of family income (bring all that apply)

                1.       2016 Tax documents or W2’s or Dec. 2016 paystubs or LES

                2.      SSI/WFFA/TANF (statements)

                3.      Alimony, Pell Grants, Scholarships, 1098-T

                4.      Retirement, Unemployment, Disability, VA benefits (GI Bill, pension, compensation, etc.)

                5.      Child Support, even if none received, for ALL CHILDREN in the home

All required documents must be provided at time of application. The application process may be lengthy so it is suggested that other arrangements be made for young children.
