Onslow County Schools, October 3, 2016 — Carla Bradshaw, assistant principal at White Oak High School, has been chosen as Onslow County School District’s 2016—17 Assistant Principal of the Year.

A committee comprised of a community member, district instructional staff member, the principal of the year and the teacher of the year interviewed finalists before making a selection. Finalists included Shelly Gualtieri, the assistant principal at Hunters Creek Elementary and Karrie Helt, the assistant principal at Stateside Elementary. This is the fifth year the school district has selected a designee for their exceptional leadership.

Bradshaw has been an assistant principal in the district for eight years and is now in her third year as one of the AP’s at White Oak High School.

She earned her Master’s Degree in School Administration at East Carolina University.

In addition to her many duties as assistant principal she has been involved with the school’s Agriculture Program and Future Farmers of America. She planned and hosted Rachel’s Challenge and is the advisor of White Oak’s Friends of Rachel Club.

The award, sponsored by the National Association of Secondary School Principals and the National Association of Elementary School Principals, recognizes the exceptional leadership and responsibilities involved in this key role in making school systems work. She will compete next at the regional level.
