Parent Night was a Success! Onslow County Schools Exceptional Children Department hosted "Building Bridges" Parent Night at New Bridge Middle School December 3, 2009. Parents, students and faculty members attended this event and received information on the many different types of services available for students who qualify for Exceptional Children services.
Informational booths and informational sessions were provided for parents to ask questions and learn more about the different areas of service that Onslow County Schools Exceptional Children Department offer. There were informational booths set up with information about Curriculum and Instruction, The Exceptional Family Members Program, Specialized Transportation, Healthy Eating Habits, Onslow Carteret Behavioral Health Care, Hearing Loss, Assistive Technology and Preschool Child Find. There were sessions that parents,students and faculty members attended about Guardianship, How to Read the IEP, Behavioral Healthcare Services, SOAR at Home, What Does Sleep Have To Do With It?, Vocational Rehabilitation and Autism Spectrum Disorder. There were also "Make and Take" sessions for parents, students and faculty members to participate in. Those workshops were the K-2 and 3-5 FCRR Reading Make It and Take It Workshop and the K-2 and 3-5 Math Without Tears- Make It and Take It Workshop.
The Onslow County Schools Exceptional Children Program Administrator, Clara Talton, also acknowledged students for outstanding accomplishments. The following students were recognized during this event:
