A member of the Onslow County Board of Education was recognized this past week for her dedication of service to her community. Pam Thomas was presented the Golden Rule Award in the area of education by the Jacksonville/Onslow Volunteer Center. Executive Director of Onslow Community Ministries Sandra Wyrick, who has worked closely with Ms. Thomas in many outreach activities, stated, "Pam Thomas is the ultimate volunteer. After retiring from Onslow County Schools she didn't stop for a second to continue to move Onslow County forward. She has a passion to help people, whether it's children or adults. Pam joined Onslow Community Ministries Board of Directors in 2006 and she has been the treasurer for 3 years. She is also involved in the Breakfast Rotary Club. Her tireless energy for the citizens of Onslow County is boundless." School Superintendent Kathy Spencer stated, "Pam Thomas is an advocate for students from early childhood education to the graduating senior. Ms. Thomas has dedicated her efforts to all students and to meeting the needs of the entire school and community. She continues to demonstrate her commitment to Onslow County, public education, and quality of life for all."
