ELA Appendix A
Appendix A of the ELA
Common Core provides the research supporting the ELA standards, describes the key elements of the standards,
and provides a glossary of
key terms related to the ELA standards. The appendix provides descriptions and explanations of text
complexity, types of
writing, language standards progress, tiered vocabulary,
etc.
ELA Appendix B
Appendix B provides text exemplars and sample performance tasks for all text complexity bands grades K – 12. This is a great resource to determine if texts are of the appropriate complexity at each grade level and to examine the types of tasks expected from students in the Common Core.


 

 

ELA Appendix C
Appendix C provides annotated writing exemplars for grades K-12.
Common Core Myth vs. Fact
Provides an overview of common myths associated with the Common Core and then provides the 
facts related to each myth.
NC Common Core Unpacking Documents
The NC Common Core Unpacking Documents are listed by grade level. Each grade level standard is then connected with the CCR Anchor Standard and unpacked to give a general description of what each standard should look like in the classroom. 
NC Common Core Crosswalk Documents
The Crosswalk Documents provides a summary
of links by grade level between the existing NC Standard Course of Study and the new Common
Core State Standards.

NC ELA Graphic Organizers
Sample graphic organizers for student use in
support of the Common Core are provided for: Argument, Compare and Contrast, Dialectic
Response, Inquiry, Synthesizing, and Vocabulary
NC ELA Text Exemplars
Similar to Appendix B, the
NC ELA Text Exemplars provide a list of text exemplars of appropriate complexity for each text complexity band grades
K-12. In addition, this site provides live links to all
text exemplars that are available free of charge
on the web. It also
provides the title, author, ISBN, and cost for text not available for free on the web.
Common Core Extended Content Standards
Provides the extended content standards for exceptional needs students not following the
Common Core State Standards.

Extended Content Standards Support Tools
This site contains the Crosswalk Documents,
which provide a summary of the links between
the existing NC Extended Content Standards
and the new Extended Content Standards based
on the Common Core.

NCDPI Wiki Central
This site contains a Symbaloo with links to many DPI resources related to Common Core and Essential Standards.
