E-Rate 2016-17 Question/Answer

Question: What type of handoff do we prefer?
Answer: Copper for 1Gb handoff, fiber for anything else.

Question: Do your sites connect directly outside, or are they networked back to a main hub?
Answer: Currently, all of our school sites go back to our main hub location before they can connect to any external/internal site or location.

Question: Do you currently have a backup site for your WAN
Answer: No, we currently do not.

Question: Would you entertain a bid that includes redundancy?
Answer: No, we will not entertain a bid that includes any form of redundancy.

Question: What is the typical core switch model for your WAN handoff?
Answer: We have at most sites a Cisco 3850. There are a couple of sites with Cisco 3750's, but that will be upgraded in the near future.

Question: Is there currently room in the racks for equipment installs?
Answer: Yes, there is in most cases. If there is not, OCS IT Staff will be onsite to make the needed space for the equipment.

Question: Do you know of any issues with getting a line from outside the building to any of the MDF locations?
Answer: No, there are no known issues with any pathway between the outside and inside Main Data Feed.
