Onslow County Schools, located on the southeast coast, serves a student population of approximately 26,000. Currently the system includes 37 learning sites: 20 elementary schools, 8 middle schools, 7 high schools, an alternative learning center and an early childhood center. Teacher Job Fair participants will meet administrators and teachers from each of the schools as well as a variety of central office program administrators.
Onslow County Schools offers excellent potential employment for both experienced and beginning teachers. Each year, there are vacancies in all licensure areas. In addition to teachers for all subjects and grade levels, Onslow County Schools will be seeking applicants for student services positions including media coordinators, school counselors, speech therapists, physical therapists, exceptional children specialists, school psychologists, and school nurses.
Preregistration for the Teacher Job Fair is not required. Please bring multiple copies of your resume. Applicants should bring copies of a valid teaching license, a degree dated transcript, and appropriate Praxis or Pearson score reports if available.
The system does consider lateral entry candidates for critical areas where sufficient numbers of licensed applicants are not available. A degree dated transcript from a regionally accredited institution where the applicant earned a minimum of a 2.5 GPA is required to apply.
Teachers and other licensed staff (e.g. media specialists, psychologists, audiologists, speech-language pathologists, counselors, and social workers) are paid on state-adopted salary schedules based on licensure, years of experience, and degree held. In addition to the state salary schedules, Onslow County Schools provides a local supplement of 10% of the annual salary.
In Onslow County Schools, ten month employees will report on August 18, 2016. First year teachers will report August 15-17, 2016 for a new teacher orientation program.
