Onslow County Schools' Military Liaison, Bobbi Raub, recently teamed up with Camp Lejeune's School Liaison, Julie Fulton, and MCAS New River's School Liaison, Courtney Buzzard, to form an alliance that will support military dependent students attending school both in the county as well as on the bases. In an effort to build a partnership, the team is visiting every school and presenting an overview of their roles and responsibilities. The school liaisons are advocates for military children and can provide resources and make referrals on their behalf. The liaisons each have an assigned group of schools and will be the "point of contact" for issues relating to the academic, social and emotional well-being of military dependent students. The emphasis is on military and family transition which entails all three phases of deployments: pre-deployment, deployment, and re-integration. The school liaisons can provide information on the availability of support groups and guide staff members to appropriate resources to meet the needs of military dependent students. The team is eager to assist in helping such students develop and achieve resiliency.
