Teachers Going Global
Northwoods Park Middle School
Posted On: Thursday, April 02, 2009

Teachers Going Global is an opportunity for teachers to share their experiences abroad with each other in a structured setting. The goal of the program is to increase internationalism by sharing ideas, promoting conversation, and increasing global resources.

At each session, one teacher shares pictures in the form of a slide show of a place they have visited or lived. Food from that country is served and during the meal, teachers answer "Food for Talk" questions about their experiences, observations and travels. A resource kit is created and placed in the library. Resources include and information PowerPoint, folktales, statistics for math lessons, autobiographies of people from that country, maps, recipes, arts/crafts and flags. Teachers volunteer to present at the meetings and, of course, the country is their choice.
