Onslow County Schools Division of Title I Services will ensure a quality and equitable learning environment to assist every student in mastering the essential skills necessary for life-long learning.



The purpose of the the Onslow County Schools Division of Title I Services is to:

ensure equitable opportunities for excellence in education. 


What is Title I? 


Title I is a federally funded program under the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) recently passed by Congress and Signed by the President.  ESSA is the latest reauthorization of the Elementary and Secondary Act of 1965 and replaces the No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB) of 2001.  The purpose of Title I of ESSA is to, "provide all children significant opportunity to receive a fair, equitable, and high-quality education, and to close educational achievement gaps."


The Title I program is designed to assist all students meet our state's challenging academic content and performance standards.  Schools qualify for Title I funds based on identified economic need.  The Title I program offers a variety of services for participating schools, which may include: additional teachers and support staff, extra time for instruction, a variety of teaching methods and materials, smaller classes and additional training for staff.  For the 2016-2017 school year, all 20 of the Onslow County School System's elementary schools, one preschool center, and one private school will receive Title I services.
